Row By Row Blocks Here We Go!

Sew Special in San Antonio and Katy

I was so happy that I was able to work with Sew Special Quilts for the second year in a row, for their Row by Row design in two locations. In Katy, the Go Go Flamigoes made their debut, while in my home-town of  San Antonio, the Toads on the Road hit the town. These were so fun to draw, while addressing the theme On the Go. This was a wonderful project to do for a lovely shop, I seriously cannot recommend Sew Special Quilts enough. I have been a customer of theirs for many years. Be sure to stop by and see them!

This was last years design, featuring two armadillos on the way home. My Go Go Flamigoes were seen in this lovely compilation video of all the wonderful Row by Rows across the United States, Canada, and even Europe!  All of these are available through Sew Special Quilts, be sure to stop in! They have kits available.

Birdie Boone Workshop

A little while ago a chance came my way to take a workshop with artist Birdie Boone, I was quite excited to be able to learn so much from a master hand-builder. It was an experience that left me swimming with ideas for days afterwards.  The Southwest School of Art is really an amazing facility and feels very welcoming.

I was able to buy the little egg basket on the far right! My favorite part of these pieces is the shadows they form, very much apart of the work as the piece itself. Uniquely beautiful and a wonderful weekend! If you have a chance to take a class there, I definietly recommend it!

Return to Clay

Sometimes taking a break can be the best thing for creativity.  I recently went through a post graduation slump where nothing 'felt' right anymore.  I think I missed the interaction of the classroom and seeing other artist's work.

But, after awhile I really felt my interest renewed in this amazing craft. I am excited to try and stretch my knowledge and learn some new skills.  I am happy to be creating again and can't wait to open my new chapter of life.  Here goes!
